A mum in the US has helped deliver her own baby via c-section and the photos have to be seen to be believed.
Emily Dial – an experienced midwife and nurse practitioner – said she wanted the birth of her third child to be extra special and knew early on in the pregnancy that she wanted to help deliver the baby.
“It was a perfect moment. It was probably one of the most perfect moments of my life,” she told PEOPLE.
“I had the [plastic] drape in front of my face and, trying to maintain sterile technique, I couldn’t kiss [Emma]. I just kept bringing her up to my face and looking at her, like, ‘I just want you in my arms so much.’ ”
The most shocking part for Emily? She thought the baby was going to be a boy.
“I was in shock and awe. I really wasn’t thinking about my belly being wide open. I was just like, ‘Oh my God! This really is a girl.’ ”
Her photographer captured the breathtaking experience and shared the images on Facebook in a post that has since gone viral.
“This was by far one of the most incredible days of my life,” she wrote.
“It was unreal. To say that she is amazing, is an understatement. She was meant to bring babies into this world and didn’t let a little thing like a C-Section stop her from delivering her own! To watch her colleagues rally around her and make this happen was so beautiful.”
