Watch Mark Wahlberg Put Ellen Degeneres' Average Andy Through a Brutal Workout

Mark Wahlberg has been bringing his training to his talk show rounds. He recently hit the gym with Dr. Oz, where they competed in a pushup contest. And now, he’s taking Ellen Degeneres’ executive producer, Average Andy (a.k.a. Andy Lassner) to the gym to get schooled at his F45 gym—where TV star Mario Lopez also showed up.

“When I told my wife I was doing this, this was honestly her reaction: a. don’t die, and b. if this workout makes you look anything like Mark Wahlberg, I’m in,” Lassner says before they start their workout.

Things start off slow and easy with a warmup, Lassner stretching between Wahlberg and Lopez.

“I mean honestly, is there anything crueler than putting me between Mark Wahlberg and Mario Lopez?!” he says. “My watch already said I’ve done my steps for the day!”

As the workouts starts on the TRX with their legs off the ground and mounted on the wall for bodyweight pulls, and Lassner is clearly struggling.

“Your legs are too high!” says Wahlberg. “Your legs are too high,” retorts Lassner.

Next, they move on to chest presses, with Lopez stepping in to spot Lassner.

“Oh, no. This is a letdown. This is terrible,” says Wahlberg.

The next move is a bent-over barbell row.

“Pull to the chest, all the way up. Stick the glutes out,” says Wahlberg. After set one, Lassner is out.

“I’m taking an early break. Just don’t want to throw up at F45,” he says. “Here’s the thing. I have money. I will give you money if I don’t have to do this.”

The next move is kettlebell squats with a press.

“Forty-five minutes has never taken longer,” says Lassner.

“If you just utilize some of the energy for working, not complaining… I don’t know how Ellen does it,” says Wahlberg.

Their final series includes a medicine ball squat with a resistance band around the thighs and weighted hip thrusts on the ground—an exercise Lassner is proud to do.

“No wonder your wife calls you ‘the man’,” says Wahlberg.

After the workout, Lassner is still woozy from all the work. “I nailed it,” he says. “I’m actually happy Ellen wasn’t here, because this was probably too advanced for her… I’m so dizzy right now that I’m gonna throw up and then I’m gonna faint.”
