These Bodybuilders Recreated Michael B. Jordan’s Creed II<\/em> Montage

The Buff Dudes frequently take on the fitness regimes of swole action stars on their YouTube channel, throwing themselves into challenges where they follow the workouts of the likes of The Rock and Chris Hemsworth. But they’re also fans of recreating some of the most epic training montages from the movies, like last year when they reenacted Sylvester Stallone’s iconic Siberian sequence from Rocky IV.

In their latest videos, the bodybuilding brothers return to the Rocky universe, this time to take on the desert training scene from the spinoff/sequel Creed II, in which Stallone’s character coaches Adonis Creed, played by Men’s Health cover star Michael B. Jordan, through a series of increasingly grueling drills.

The brother start off with “hammer holes,” which simply involve hitting the ground with a sledgehammer for as long as they possibly can. “I have a feeling this is going to be pretty tough,” says Brandon. “This isn’t like hitting a tire; there’s no bounce back, it’s just solid ground.” Sure enough, neither of them last longer than 2:15. “That felt like every hit, I was slowly digging my own grave,” he says.

Next is the “tower of tires,” in which each of them must hit a stack of tires without dislodging any of them, meaning they must constantly move around the tower, slamming them back into place. Think of it as kind of like a reverse game of Jenga, but with punching.

Then there’s a roped sled pull, where they must haul a sled with two tires across the room. “It’s not very heavy,” says Brandon, “but it does take that hand-eye coordination as one of those training tools, which I think this can be very useful for.”

This is followed by a close-range sparring session where each fighter has one foot anchored in the middle of a tire, and then a test where they must each traverse the length of the barn while flipping a tire. “It really builds a lot of leg strength, some power in the hips, and upper body,” says Brandon.

The montage recreation ends with perhaps the most grueling round yet. In order to aid muscle recovery, Hudson and Brandon both endure cold therapy in the form of a 100-pound ice bath, an ordeal which leaves them both with a newfound admiration for Adonis Creed’s resolve in the movie.
