With each new Instagram post, it’s clear why some fans can’t seem to let go of the idea that retired NFL linebacker and defensive end DeMarcus Ware might be mulling a comeback. Not only does Ware still look as strong as when he starred for the Cowboys and Broncos, it’s now clear that he’s also kept up with his endurance. In his most recent post, Ware demonstrates a grueling 10-move HIIT circuit that, in his words, is “fun, but you WILL feel it afterwards.”
In the video, Ware demonstrates the moves in a rapid-fire montage, which he performs in tandem with trainer Jeanette Jenkins. If you’re planning to try this routine for yourself, however, take a few cues from Men’s Health Fitness Director Ebenezer Samuel, CSCS, to pull it off as safely and effectively as possible:
Ware, for his part, acknowledges that he hasn’t exactly lost a step in retirement—but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s NFL ready, either. In response to being asked if he’s more fit now than when he played, Ware told one commenter, “It’s a different kind of shape, but yes I believe so.”
