UPDATE (August 14, 2018): Looks like Essence Lash Princess Mascara strikes again with another beauty convert. Reddit user Crow_Rufio_Crow recently posted a lash selfie on Reddit's Makeup Addiction forum with one eye with naked lashes and one eye wearing the $5 drugstore mascara — with unbelievably dramatic results. Seriously, it looks like she's got lash extensions on. She wrote, "Been waiting for what seems like forever to open my new tube of mascara. Finally jumped on the Essence lash princess train and HOLY SHIT."
Yeah, I'd say.
Last we wrote about this mascara about a year ago, another Reddit user had also posted her dramatic before and after shot of using this mascara with equally impressive results. For just $5 it's only a matter of time before this mascara climbs the ranks of Holy Grail status for beauty aficionados.
Just so you don't get it twisted, there are few variations of the Essence Lash Princess mascara, and Crow_Rufio_Crow makes note that this one she used is in the peachy pink tube — the Lash Princess Volume Mascara. There's also the Lash Princess Sculpted Volume Mascara in a purple tube, and the Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara in the green tube.
User BeachWhy says, "The BEST ONE! I've tried the other two as well, they're not as good" and Crow_Rufio_Crow responds "Yes! I loved the false lash, green tube , but this just blows it out of the water."
So there you have it — if you're going to eenie-meenie-minie-mo this one, go for the peach. Then again, they're all $5 so, it's not like you couldn't just easily build a mascara wardrobe of all three.
Finding a good mascara, is easier said than done — you have to kiss a few metaphorical mascara frogs before you find a volume-boosting and lengthening mascara Prince Charming, if you will. But one Redditor may have just found the crown princess of all mascaras — and it’s under $5.
Redditor EllieDaisyLouise took to the Makeup Addiction thread — site of so many royally good beauty discoveries — to share a truly unbelievable mascara find you can scoop up at the drugstore: Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara.
False lash effect indeed. In a side-by-side image, the Redditor shows off almost unbelievable effects — her bare lashes show just how stunning the change is with the mascara, which makes her lashes look long, luscious, and all around worthy of a mascara ad. “Alright this is the second time I've seen lashes this dramatic from that mascara and I'm officially on board,” one user wrote. We'll second that.
It’s hard to believe the dramatic results from this royally good find aren’t the magic of a set of falsies. But as some users pointed out, you have to have pretty long natural lashes to see this kind of impact.
As hard as we may try not to play favorites with our beauty products, mascara will forever have a special place in our hearts (and makeup bags) — when you have literally only two minutes, a couple of coats of a solid mascara can take you from tired to ready to take on the world. When that mascara delivers results like these and costs less than a grande PSL, it wouldn’t be crazy to call it the new ruler of your beauty bag.
But just in case this gets discontinued or sold-out, here are a couple other inexpensive lashes to stash:
