Thanks to the confidence-boosting effects of social media filters, beauty brands have been stepping up to create foundations, highlighters, and primers with IRL filter-like effects. (All praise ye genius cosmetic chemists.) The latest formula to help you fake that perfectly filtered effect offline comes in a convenient cushion compact from Dior Beauty.
The brand’s existing Capture Dreamskin collection is designed to do exactly what the name implies: give you perfectly fresh and glowy Meghan Markle skin with a lightweight foundation that “perfectly fuses with skin.” Currently, the cushion compact comes in four shades but Dior Beauty recently announced a totally transparent Dreamskin formula that's more filter than foundation, to be released in August.
The forthcoming Capture Dreamskin Fresh & Perfect Cushion is designed to blur any imperfections without hiding your natural skin underneath a layer of color. It also delivers a dose of moisture for a midday plumping pick-me-up. Unlike some other transparent blurring formulas (like Milk Makeup’s Luminous Blur Stick) Fresh & Perfect is shimmer-free — perfect for days when the humidity index is giving you plenty of natural pearlescent shine. Rather than create that soft-focus glow with shiny pigments and powders, Dior used a blend of mica and soft focus powders to help camouflage redness and create that luminous blur that you typically only get on Instagram.
But the best part? The new transparent cushion formula reportedly works on all skin tones, making the filter-like effects totally inclusive. Dior’s Fresh & Perfect Cushion drops at Dior.com next month. Its price is still a mystery, but Dior Beauty's other Capture Totale Dreamskin cushion compact retails for $82, so this one may very well hover around the same mark.
