Your switch from red wine to rosé makes it official: summer is knocking at the door. With maximum skin on show, it’s high time to pencil in those Thursday night tans. To celebrate their collaboration with activewear brand P.E Nation, we asked Ella Baché tanning expert Hayley Fahd to give us the lowdown on bronzing up.
Always prep your skin first
“Avoid waxing or shaving 24 hours prior to tanning. Cleanse and exfoliate your skin the day before to ensure an even application and increase the longevity of the tan. After exfoliating, apply a light moisturiser to all areas prone to streaking and product build-up like the elbows, knees, ankles, handles and wrists.”
Know what type of tan works best for you
“Whether you’re a seasoned professional or a first time tanner, there are products on the market to suit all experience levels. For those that are less experienced, try a lightweight tanning lotion such as Ella Baché’s Great Bronze. It’s a self tanner, a tan extender and a moisturiser all in one. And as the tan builds gradually and takes longer to set, it gives an inexperienced self tanner more time to perfect the coverage. For the more experienced tanners, spray tans work best as they develop a more instant, darker tan, allowing less room for error.”
Get the most out of your tan
“Moisturise the skin daily to maintain colour and stop your skin drying out. Also consider alternating between a moisturiser and a lighter gradual tanning product that tops up your colour to keep your skin glowing for longer. “
