This Is What Indoor Plant You Should Get Based On Your Star Sign

The indoor plant trend is by no means new. In fact, the indoor plant phenomenon is so booming that recent studies have shown they make a house feel like a calming oasis, as well as looking stunning. But, navigating the world of plants is no easy feat. With a plethora of hanging greens and lively florals to choose from, it can be difficult to pinpoint which plant is exactly right for you and your home.

According to a study by Harvard University conducted over an eight-year period found women who lived in areas with more greenery had a 12% lower mortality rate than those with less. The study also found there were improved mental health and higher social and physical activity. One study discovered results that suggested interactions with indoor plants can reduce stress compared to hard mental work. While another found that participants were less anxious when in a workplace with indoor plants or windows with a view of nature.

Other benefits to having an abundance of indoor plants include air purification, better sleep and they also are great at blocking out noise!

Now that you’re convinced, we’ve enlisted the help of the experts at Gro Urban Oasis to help you pick out your new leafy friend, based on your star sign. Below, an easy to follow guide to indoor plants.

PARDON MY PLANT | Kentia Palms ? Palms are not just for the outdoors, we pinky promise! Our palm-pick of the month is the Kentia Palm, you can recognise them by their slender trunk and crown of dark-green drooping fonds. Pair with planted ferns and cordylines for the perfect accompaniment. 'Slow and easy' is their personality – they grow slow which means they don't require regular repotting. ?: @hetbestevandekweker #grourbanoasis . . . . . #plantlife #plantbased #plant #plants #indoorplants #livingwithplants #instaplants #houseplantsofinstagram #plantlove #plantparenthood #plantshelfie #myhappyplace #plantgang #apartmenttherapy #plantsathome #planthousecommunity #botanicalwomen #girlswithplants #urbanjunglebloggers #houseplantclub #indoorplants #urbanjungle #kentiapalm #palm

In your face BIRD OF PARADISE

View this post on Instagram

PLANT CARE TIP ? Okay, Gro’er, so you recently took a giant white bird of paradise under your wings. Rather than winging it, we have some tips to get you started: ? Place your plant in a spot with medium to high light. ? Don’t sit it in a saucepan or water as it can rot. ? Water your plant on a weekly basis and allow the potting mix to dry out before watering. Generally, the leaves will droop or curl whenever it needs water. ? Remove spent flowering heads as they finish to allow new blooms to come through. ? Give your plant enough space to spread out. It can reach a height of about 1 to 1.5 metres and will have a spread of about .5 metres. #grourbanoasis . . . . . #plantlife #plantbased #plant #plants #interiordesign #interior #homedecor #home #myhappyplace #myhome #design #style #styles #styled #interiorstyling #interiorstyle #interiorspace #plantsathome #planthousecommunity #botanicalwomen #girlswithplants #urbanjunglebloggers #houseplantclub

Taurus

Solid and stubborn ZANZIBAR GEM.

Gemini

Split personality easy yet hard MAIDEN HAIR FERN.

View this post on Instagram

PLANT CARE TIP ? Can someone tell us why a plant called MAIDENHAIR fern actually NEEDS humidity? Asking for a poufy-haired friend ? Maidenhair ferns can be quite difficult to grow because they demand consistent growing conditions. Direct sun will lead to scorching, but too little light will cause poor growth and yellowing fronds. If possible, place in a location that gets indirect morning or afternoon sun, such as a northern window, with no drafts. A temperature of about 70°F (21°C) is ideal, but temperatures below 60°F (16°C) should be avoided. Maidenhair ferns can't tolerate dry air, so if your home is dry, you'll need to figure out how to provide your plant the humidity it needs ? If all else fails, try placing it in your bathroom or gifting it to your poufy-haired friend who definitely knows where it is humid. #grourbanoasis . . . . . #plantlife #plantbased #plant #plants #interiordesign #interior #homedecor #home #myhappyplace #myhome #design #style #styles #styled #interiorstyling #interiorstyle #interiorspace #plantsathome #planthousecommunity #botanicalwomen #girlswithplants #urbanjunglebloggers #houseplantclub

Cancer

Nurturing and empathetic HAPPY PLANT.

View this post on Instagram

? PLANT CARE TIP: HAPPY PLANTS ? Part of what makes Happy Plants so easy to care for is that they will tell you when they are unhappy! ? If plants could talk, the narrowing leaves would tell you the plant is receiving too little light and bleached leaves would tell you to move the plant out of the direct sunlight. Your best bet is to place your Happy Plant in a nook with medium light and to listen when it asks for a relocation. #grourbanoasis . . . . #plantlife #plantbased #plant #plants #interiordesign #interior #homedecor #home #myhappyplace #myhome #design #style #styles #styled #interiorstyling #interiorstyle #interiorspace #plantsathome #planthousecommunity #botanicalwomen #girlswithplants #urbanjunglebloggers #houseplantclub

Strong and hardworking PHILODENDRON.

View this post on Instagram

PLANT OF THE WEEK ? Philodendrons are basically a “choose-your-own-adventure” plant with over 400 varieties to choose from as the second largest genus of the Aracae family. With all philodendrons being some of the toughest houseplants, the real crossroad comes when choosing between vining and non-climbing philodendrons. Vining philodendrons need a post or other supporting structure to climb on, and include blushing philodendrons and heartleaf philodendrons. Non-climbing philodendrons, such as lacy tree and bird’s nest philodendrons, have an upright, spreading growth habit. The width of non-climbers can be as much as twice their height. Talk through your own Bandersnatch, philodendron decisions in-store at Westfield Miranda and Westfield Warringah Mall — although, you really can’t make a wrong decision. #grourbanoasis . . . . . #plantlife #plantbased #plant #plants #interiordesign #interior #homedecor #home #myhappyplace #myhome #design #style #styles #styled #interiorstyling #interiorstyle #interiorspace #plantsathome #planthousecommunity #botanicalwomen #girlswithplants #urbanjunglebloggers #houseplantclub
