Mum shares video showing how she can shoot breastmilk out of her armpit

The body is capable of doing extraordinary things and that is never more evident than in pregnancy.

Even after giving birth, mums can do incredible things, like shooting milk out of their armpits.

That’s the case for one mum who showed off the trick on her TikTok.

The mum-of-three, who goes by @ollieoooop on the video-sharing platform, not only explained that it happens to her, she demonstrated how.

The breastfeeding mum from Minnesota also gave a brief explanation for why this occurs.

She said mums can experience ‘pitties’ — lumps or swelling that can develop in the armpits when breast tissue is filled with breast milk.

So when she squeezes the area, the liquid is then able to come out.

Just in case the secretion wasn’t obvious, the mum also slowed it down in the video to give viewers a good look.

Pls don’t let me have made this for nothing #breastfeedingmom #weird #talent ?? #milk #weirdbodythings #weirdbodytrick #momsoftiktok #justmomthings

The mum shared her video in response, or by stitching as it’s known on TikTok, to another user who asks viewers to share a thing their body does that other people’s bodies do not do.

The mum said in her video: ‘I’m about to expose myself. Please be nice to me.

‘Basically, you have breast tissue in your armpits and when you get engorged, sometimes that tissue swells. However, I am the only instance that I know of or that I can find of this specific thing that happens to my body.

‘I can shoot milk out of my armpit. And if it wasn’t disgusting enough just to hear it, I’m going to prove it.

‘If you or someone you know can do this, please duet this because I can’t be the only one. Please tell me I’m not the only one who could do this.’

Why does this happen?

Breast tissue can extend into the armpit and it has a special name ‘the Tail of Spence.’ During engorgement or when the milk first comes in, you may notice lumps and swelling in your armpits. This ‘accessory’ breast tissue may become engorged when the milk first comes in.

Colloquially it has been referred to as ‘pitties’ by mums and is not dangerous, usually going away within 48 hours.

Mums who experience it can apply a cold compress to treat any pain that may occur.

More than 191,000 viewers were fascinated by the discovery, while some mums revealed they experienced the same.

‘I COULD DO THIS. I THOUGHT I WAS ALONE,’ wrote one mum who over-produced milk.

Another added: ‘You’re not the only one! My friend frantically called the hospital after her son was born made an appointment the next day.’

While the lumps may be painful, they are harmless and should go away on their own.
