For many people Christmas, and the lead-up to it, entails a lot of socialising – which can for some include drinking lots of booze.
As well as catching up with friends and family we haven't seen in ages, many also have work Christmas parties to attend in December.
But all the fun and alcohol inevitably has a horrible consequence – the hangover the next day.
Splitting headaches, sickness, dizziness and dehydration the day after can make you feel like it wasn't worth it – especially if that day is Christmas Day!
You don't want to be spending Christmas Day with your head over the toilet bowl.
Here Daily Star has put together some of the best hangover cures that will help you out.
Drink water between drinks
A lot of the work in preventing hangovers can be done the night before.
NHS Dr Ross Perry, Medical Director of CosmedicsUK, recommends drinking water between alcoholic drinks.
He explained to Daily Star that this would "not only help with your hangover the following day, but will do wonders for your teeth too as it rinses away any sugar and acid left in the mouth".
Eat foods contenting potassium the next day
You can continue working through your hangover the next day. Dr Perry, has previously appeared on This Morning and Good Morning Britain, recommends eating foods containing potassium.
This is because drinking alcohol blocks the production of a hormone that helps your body hold on to water.
This leads to dehydration and the loss of important electrolytes.

To avoid this, try eating bananas, oranges, apricots, grapefruit, honeydew and cantaloupe melon, leafy greens, spinach, broccoli and potatoes, which he said would "lessen the hangover and replenish the loss of electrolytes making you feel better quicker".
Take some Vitamin C
This is something you can do before and after your boozy session.
Dr Ross previously told Daily Star: "Having a healthy dose of Vitamin C in your system before and after drinking may help to prevent or reduce the severity of hangovers so think about incorporating some veg such as Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, Green and red peppers or drink some freshly squeezed orange juice or tomato juice before the party and the following day."
Get some fresh air
If you're really struggling with a headache, you can take some paracetamol. But you should also consider going outside to get some fresh air in the cold, winter air.
Dr Perry said: "A walk outside is a better option than over exerting yourself in the gym as this can just make you feel more dehydrated and worsen the banging head."
Avoid unhealthy food
This is easier said than done on Christmas Day, but reaching for carbs and sugar may make you feel worse.
He explained: "Instead, reach for the fruit bowl or opt to have a bowl of porridge with honey and banana to try and replenish some of the nutrients your body may have lost."
Instead of reaching for a Christmas bacon sandwich, consider having a bagel with cream cheese and tomato. Dr Perry explained that this has a "decent" amount of calories but is "more nutritious and will help with the pesky headache”.
Keep in mind alcohol should be consumed in moderation, and not on a regular basis.
