This Home Bodyweight Workout Burns Fat in 15 Minutes

Now that we’re all in quarantine with no social life outside of Zoom happy hour, there’s really no excuse for not being able to find the time to workout. But just in case your at-home schedule is inexplicably full, Athlean-X founder Jeff Cavaliere C.S.C.S. just devised a highly efficient way to burn fat.

Cavaliere’s latest home workout is designed to torch the lower body, upper body, and the core — all in just 15 minutes, with zero equipment required. He describes the workout as “torture,” but that’s kind of the point: to push yourself and feel those effects in a matter of minutes. It’s even structured so that anyone will be able to do regardless of their individual level of ability.

The entire workout is broken down into a series of increments that each last 30 seconds. If you’re a beginner, Cavaliere advises you to try doing the first 3 moves for just 15 seconds at a time. If you’re more advanced, do them for 20 or 25 seconds. So, if you’re working at a beginner’s level and doing the exercise for 15 seconds, that means you can rest for another 15 seconds in that 30-second window. If you’re doing them for 20 seconds, you rest for the remaining 10 seconds, and so on.

In each segment of the workout, the fourth and final exercise is the “burnout” move, which must be done for the full 30 seconds — this is where you’ll really start to feel that fatigue.

The lower body segment of the workout consists of the split squat lateral hop, the ratchet squat, the prisoner walkup, and the “burnout” move, the sidewinder. The upper body moves are the hover hop, the step-through pushup, the pushup toe-tap, and the hover pulse. The core moves are the twisting piston, the black widow knee slide, lateral mountain climbers, finishing with the V-sit pulse burnout.

Cavaliere carries out the workout in real-time in the video below, including timestamps so you know when to rest and when to start the next move:
