Guys Keep Sharing Photos of Their Dad Bods With Will Smith

Like millions of other people, Will Smith is on a mission to get back in shape in time for summer. Earlier this week, the Fresh Prince and Bad Boys actor, 52, declared that he’s in the “worst shape of my life,” and will be embarking on a 12-week fitness transformation as part of a new YouTube series.

“This is the body that carried me through an entire pandemic and countless days grazing thru the pantry,” he wrote. “I love this body, but I wanna FEEL better. No more midnight muffins…this is it! Imma get in the BEST SHAPE OF MY LIFE!!!!”

Perhaps feeling inspired to kick off an ’80s-style workout montage of their own, several of Smith’s 52 million followers reached out to let the star know that he’s hardly alone in terms of letting himself go over the past year.

In a gallery also posted to his Instagram account, Smith shared several photos of guys proudly showing off their dad bods, many of them mimicking Smith’s shirtless—and pantsless—statuesque power pose from earlier in the week. Smith also took the opportunity to issue a call to action to his fellow out of shape men: “Let’s go get it! After pics due in 12 weeks! #BigWillieChallenge,” he captioned the photo series.

Many of Smith’s celebrity friends were also quick to react, including actress Jamie Lee Curtis, who resurfaced an untouched, body-positive photo from 2002 published in More magazine and offered some useful perspective for those who might suddenly be feeling the pressure to make a change.

“None of us should be unhealthy. We ALL have fallen into bad habits. The GOAL is self acceptance, self love,” she wrote. “MANY people don’t have the luxury of oodles of time and money to focus on their training. Mostly it should be a discussion starter.”

And if you’re not feeling inspired to make any changes at all, it turns out you’re in good company there, too. As Questlove put it in the comments, “Nah I’m good 🤣😂🤣😂🤣.”
